2025 Calendar

February 8th

Big Breakfast and Snowdrops at Newchurch Church.  We are joining with members of Newchurch Church for their Big Breakfast Celebration and to see the  many snowdrops in the area.  On offer is a Big Breakfast (£8.00) or the more modest Bacon or Sausage Butty (£4.00)   Please book through Pat Jefferies and let him know if you would like either of these options.  Afterwards there will be a visit to Honnor & Jeffrey for lunch.  Breakfast is from 9.30 am and lunch at 12.30 pm.  Again, please let Pat know if you would like to make a reservation.

February 10th 

Annual General Meeting, 2.30 pm to be held at The Parish Rooms, Newport.  PO30 1JU.  Speaker: Ellen Penstone-Smith from Farringford.  Coffee/Tea £1.00 and Cake £1.50.  Raffle.

March 14th, Friday - from 10.30 am.
Coffee Morning at 'End of the Line' Garden Centre, Afton. PO40 9UH.  Competition:     "Tea Cup" Challenge with a prize for the best flower arrangement in a teacup using material from your own garden.  Raffle.  (NB.  Dogs are not allowed inside the cafe but are welcome at the outside seating areas.) Organiser: Sheila Spivey.  Followed by optional visit to Rose Ingham's garden (refreshments not available.)

April 18th/19th
Spring Art and Garden Fair at Northwood House.  Exhibition stand to promote the Group..  Organiser: Sue Bulwer-Reed.

April 23rd
Day trip to New Forest Hostas & Exbury Gardens.  Cost £42.00.  Optional train trip -£5.00 payable at Exbury.  Coach departure times. 7.25 am Harwoods Garage, Lushington Hill: 7.50 am Coppins Bridge: 8.30 am Yarmouth Harbour Bus stop in time for the 9.05 am ferry.  Return 6.00 pm from Lymington.Organiser: Sheila Spivey.  Ref Exbury.

May 6th - 2.30 pm
Spring Lecture by Timothy Walker.  Venue; Parish Rooms, Newport PO30 1JU.  Cost: £8.00 to include refreshments.  Raffle.  Please book with Sue Bulwer-Reed. (Ref: Walker)

May 19th - 24th
RHS Chelsea Flower Show. (For information only.)

May 25th - 10.00 am - 12 noon.
Plant Sale at Gunda Cross' home.  (Address in Newsletter.) Please grow and share plants to sell for Club funds.  Coffee/Tea £1.00, Cake £1.50.  Organiser: Sue Bulwer Reed.

May 25th - 2.00 - 5.00 pm 

Open Garden at Louisa Killpack's, The Dairy, 196 Carisbrooke Road, Newport PO30 1DL.  Teas and a plant stall.   Entry by donation to the Alzheimer Cafe IOW.  Parking next door at Carisbrooke Health Centre.  NB This is not an IWGPG organised event.

June 3rd.  10.30 am - 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm.
Two visits to  Ningwood Manor. NGS 3 acre garden divided into 'rooms'.  Cost £5.00 plus Refreshment £3.00 (cash only).  Welcome introduction.   Pre-booking is essential but please do not pay until your booking is confirmed.  Organiser: Sally Whibley  (Ref Ningwood).

June 5th - 9th
Four day holiday to include a visit to David Austin Roses.  Organiser Sheila Spivey.  (Ref: June Hol.)

June 24th
Day trip to RHS Wisley.  Cost - £30.00.  Further details tbc.  Organiser & contact: Sheila Spivey. (Ref: Wisley)

July 5th & 6th
Bonchurch Open Gardens which includes a visit to Charlotte Walby's (our Speaker in January) Bonsai garden.  £5.00 entrance fee.  Advvisory information only - no organised trip.)

July 30th  

Coffee Morning and Plant Sale/Swap at Shalfleet Village Hall. 10.00am - 12.30 pm.

August 13th
Visit to Carisbrooke Flower Farm with Claire Westbrook.  Cost £5.00, payable on the day, to include tea/cake.  Plese book with Sheila for this event so we know how many to expect.  Organiser: Sheila Spivey.

September 2nd.
Member's Open Garden at Jane Barnet's home.  (Please see Newsletter for address.)   Coffee/Tea £1.00  and Cakes £1.50.  Organiser; Sue Bulwer-Reed.

September 4th - 8th
Holiday to France to include a visit to Monet's Garden, Giverny, Graindorge Cheese Dairy in Livarot, Beuvron-en-Auge, Pierre Huet Calvados Distillery in Cambremer, Chateau de Boutement & gardens.   Cost expected to be £750 - £780.00 TBC.  Single Supplement TBC.   Organiser: Sheila Spivey (Ref. Sept Hol.)  A valid passport, which must be valid for 6 months after completion of the holiday, and travel insurance is required.  See Holidays for further details.

October 8th
